How Ukraine Responded After Iran said, It ‘Unintentionally’ Shot Down Flight 752

Iran says that it unintentionally shot down Ukraine International Airlines Flight 752 being operated on a Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

Ukrainian Government Urged for Compensation to Iran  

An investigation found that missiles were fired due to human error which eventually shot down the Ukraine Airlines Boeing 737 killing 176 people on board few minutes after take-off from Tehran.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister said that Iran has fully cooperated with their investigation and given them access to the plane’s black box. Earlier, it was reported that Ukrainian Officials were not given access to the plane’s black box.

President Hassan Rouhani described the crash as an “unforgivable mistake.”

The military blamed human error which lead the crash. In a statement the Military said, “The plane had taken a sharp, unexpected turn that brought it near a sensitive military base.” It also blamed the “highest level of readiness” resulting from tensions with the United States.

Iran had previously rejected suggestions that it was responsible for the crash. But pressure mounted after Pentagon Officials and other Western intelligence officials said evidence pointed to Iranian involvement.

Iran’s President said, “Armed Forces’ internal investigation has concluded that regrettably missiles fired due to human error caused the horrific crash of Ukrainian plane & death of 176 innocent people. Investigations continue to identify & prosecute this great tragedy & unforgivable mistake.”

“The Islamic Republic of Iran deeply regrets this disastrous mistake. My thoughts and prayers go to all the mourning families. I offer my sincerest condolences.” he added.

Iran’s Foreign Minister also tweeted his profound regrets, apologies and condolences to the families of the victims.

The missile strike was in response to the United States killing of the senior Iranian commander Qasem Soleimani in a US drone strike on 3 January in Baghdad.

Ukraine Government also urged for the compensation and full details of the crash.

Canada’s Foreign Minister also warned Iran that, “The world is watching, saying that the families of those on board want the truth.”
